The Guildhall, Worcester
The Guildhall, High Street, Worcester is the venue for the 55+ and Retirement Roadshow. The show opens at 9:30am and closes at 2:30pm, and for those with satnav the postcode is WR1 2EY.
Worcester is an excellent location at the heart of a beautiful county. With good connections by road and rail to Birmingham, the South West and London, it is an excellent location to live and work.
The historic cathedral city of Worcester has been a location for trade and commerce since Roman times. Today the city has a population of around 93,300 and, as the county town, Worcester is the main centre within Worcestershire for administrative services, jobs, shopping and tourism.
It's a little known fact that Worcester's beautiful Guildhall has received its fair share of Royal patronage over its long history; many will remember Queen Elizabeth II's visits in 2001 and 2012 but how about King George III on a sunny day in August 1788?
Along with Queen Charlotte and three of the princesses, he pronounced the Assembly Room - now a function/meeting room - on the top floor of The Guildhall - 'a handsome gallery' and drank a toast to 'prosperity to the city and the Corporation of Worcester'.
The portrait of the King - still hanging in the Assembly Room today - was presented by him to the city to commemorate his visit.
We are very pleased to welcome Mayor Councillor Allah Ditta and Mayoress Mrs Naseem Akhtar to the show. He will be touring the show, chatting to visitors and exhibitors.
We thank him and many others for all of the help and support shown towards this event.
Take advantage of our 'Ten Minute Surgeries' programme to quiz our experts at the show.
When out and about promoting this show, there has been a great deal of interest in the forthcoming changes to the state pension and also the relaxation of rules on how people take their pensions. As a result we will have experts in the field at the show to answer your queries.
