Cobalt is a medical charity supporting people with cancer and other life-limiting conditions. Our imaging centre provides diagnosis and treatment planning not usually available in local hospitals. Our mobile MRI units travel throughout Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire and beyond, taking the very best imaging technology to people in their own area. We offer free training and education courses to doctors, health-care professionals and the public, ensuring our experience, research and cancer prevention work is widely shared.
Our aim is to improve the quality of life for those affected by cancer and other life-limiting conditions; patients, their family and friends when they need it most.
We undertake local research which leads to better diagnosis and treatment methods for patients with cancer and life-limiting conditions such as Alzheimer’s and dementia.
We share our knowledge and experience of state-of–the–art diagnostic imaging by running radiology and oncology education courses for healthcare professionals from across the UK.
Our team visits schools, companies and organisations giving free talks and workshops on cancer awareness; speaking to over 2,500 local people every year.
We support mobile and static cancer screening programmes across the region.
The very best diagnostic imaging equipment is used to scan nearly 7,000 patients referred with cancer and other life-limiting conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia each year. Another 10,000 patients with arthritis, joint pains and muscular problems are also seen.
If you are concerned about aches & pains, golf injuries or stiff joints; Cobalt has a range of specialist ‘one-stop’ clinics that can diagnose your problem and provide a treatment plan in hours. Ask your GP for a referral.
If you are worried about cancer or other serious conditions, the diagnostic scanning equipment at our Cheltenham Imaging Centre is amongst the best in the country. Ask your GP for a referral to Cobalt.
We are a charity and rely on your support to help us provide the very best medical imaging for local people when it is needed most. Over half of our voluntary income comes from legacy gifts.
During April we are working with many solicitors in towns across Gloucestershire (also in Hereford, Ross-in-Wye and Worcester) who are giving their expertise and time for free, to make or to update a straightforward Will for you, in return for a donation to Cobalt.
A Will is an important document and we should all have one to make sure that our family and loved ones are looked after. From time to time it is important to re-visit our Will as inevitably circumstances change over the years.
To get your Make a Will pack with a list of participating solicitors and the Voucher you will need to have a basic Will written, contact Zena Giles, Legacy Officer. Email email@example.com, telephone 01242 535922 or see Zena on the Cobalt stand at the 55+ Roadshow.
When you next update your Will, please consider leaving a legacy gift to Cobalt. Legacies help us to give the very best cancer support to local people, like you and your family, when it’s needed most. Download Imaging for Life – leaving a gift to Cobalt in your Will from our website.
